Ronald Bog Park

Growing up in Bellingham, WA, 80 miles north of Seattle, there was nature everywhere you could possibly look, including lots of parks throughout the city, and if you were up for a short drive, there were a lot more natural sites to see in the mountains, the hills, and the lakes and rivers that went through Whatcom County. My mom had my brother and I join the cub scouts, and then later the boy scouts, so we could get out and get a different feel for the natural beauty that comprise this area that we call home.
Since then, I have had a great fondness for nature, but up until recently, I have not had a chance to truly enjoy it like I used to. Sitting at Ronald Bog Park, in Shoreline, was a very relaxing and calming experience for me. This park is small, but it was very pretty, about the only downfall of this park was its proximity to the interstate, lots of cars. This bog is a natural arboretum, with a lot of different types of trees. I must have heard 5 or 6 different bird songs/ calls, and I either saw tiny fish jump or tad poles, and there were quite a few geese there.
